The Undomestic Goddess

This was such a cute book. Once I got into the first couple of chapters, it was hard to put it down. I have read another book by Sophia Kinsella (Can you keep a secret?) years ago and forgot how funny and light-hearted her writing can be.

The book is about a lawyer, Samantha, who is a work-a-holic and is about to become a partner in the firm. Then on the day she may become partner, she finds a packet on her messy desk that could damage the company from her simple mistake. With a panicked thoughts, she just gets up and walks out of the office. She walks away in a blur until she finds herself on a train headed out of London.

Next thing she knows she is wondering in the middle of nowhere since she got off the train and was in desperate need of a place to rest. She knocked on the door of the first house she comes across, but she is immediately mistaken for the maid that came for a job interview. Samantha was is such desperation for a place to rest, she played along.

This book takes you through Samantha's adventures of becoming a domestic goddess, falling in love and discovering a very deep secret of the lawyer firm she once worked with. I would definitely recommend this as a great summer read.

You need to read the "Shopaholic" series. They are all written by Sophie Kinsella following the same character. I enjoyed "Undomesticated Goddess" but enjoyed the series even more.

A girlfriend lent me this book about a year ago, I'm going to pick it up and read it this week. Thanks for the inspiration. She said it's hilarious. : )
